Dr Maaz Maqsood Hashmi
Managing Partner & Lead Forest Carbon Specialist
Maaz Hashmi is a forest carbon specialist and a dedicated practitioner specializing in forest carbon accounting, GHG inventories, and nature-based climate solutions. With over a decade of experience in government, development partnerships, and research, Maaz brings scientific depth, field expertise, and policy acumen to the carbon and forestry sectors.
He is a UN-certified National Forest Inventory Expert and an ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, anchoring projects in internationally recognized environmental and quality standards. His expertise includes designing and supervising ARR projects, integrating geospatial intelligence with systematic field inventories for accurate carbon estimates. His experience spans aboveground, belowground, litter, deadwood, and soil carbon assessments, utilizing strong sampling designs and high-resolution geospatial data.
Maaz leads technical efforts in baseline development, J-FREL and nested REDD+, remote sensing-based forest monitoring, and MRV system creation aligned with national and voluntary carbon market requirements. He is proficient in GHG inventories, emission factor development, and the integration of satellite data, ground measurements, and statistical models for forest carbon accounting. Additionally, Maaz prepares carbon project documentation, ensuring alignment with national and provincial policies as well as emerging market regulations.
Known for his hands-on approach, Maaz translates complex scientific evidence into actionable solutions for governments, private developers, and communities. He combines precision, integrity, and respect for ecosystems and the people who depend on them. At SabzCarbon, Maaz leads the technical vision, mentors field and GIS teams, oversees project development, and builds strong institutional linkages to ensure every project is credible, transparent, and implementable.


Abdul Haseeb
GHG Inventories and Climate Data Specialist
Abdul Haseeb is a climate-data expert specializing in GHG inventories, emission quantification, and cross-sector mitigation assessments. His expertise covers the energy, IPPU, waste, transport, agriculture, forestry, and other land-use sectors, making him a key member of SabzCarbon’s technical team for both national and project-level carbon accounting.
With a background in environmental sciences and years of practical experience, Haseeb is proficient in IPCC GHG inventory methodologies, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 approaches, emission factor selection, activity data development, and uncertainty analysis. He utilizes advanced analytical tools, spreadsheets, and geospatial inputs to produce reliable, transparent, and decision-ready emissions datasets.
Haseeb assists national institutions and private-sector clients in preparing cross-sector emissions baselines, mitigation scenarios, and GHG monitoring frameworks. His work includes emissions analyses for energy and industry, designing data collection systems for municipal waste and agriculture, and integrating land-use data with forest and carbon-stock assessments. He harmonizes data from satellite imagery, statistical yearbooks, government registries, and field measurements to ensure compliance with international standards such as UNFCCC, IPCC, and voluntary carbon market requirements.

Farhat Jabeen
Social Safeguards and SIS Specialist
Farhat Jabeen is an experienced social safeguards professional with nearly a decade of work in climate change, forestry, and community-centered development. Her expertise centers on designing and implementing safeguard systems that uphold environmental integrity, social equity, and community protection in nature-based and forest carbon initiatives.
Farhat has significantly contributed to the development of Pakistan’s national Safeguard Information System (SIS), Feedback Grievance and Redress Mechanism (FGRM), and the Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) for REDD+ readiness. She has participated in national and provincial consultations, provided technical reviews of safeguard frameworks, and supported the integration of UNFCCC Cancun Safeguards, World Bank Environmental and Social Standards, and national legislative requirements into practical project processes.
Her work encompasses leading socio-economic baseline surveys, designing participatory assessment tools, and promoting meaningful community engagement through gender-responsive approaches. Farhat is adept at applying Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) protocols and developing indicators and monitoring systems to track social risks, livelihood impacts, and community benefits in forest and land-use projects.
Recognized for her facilitation skills, Farhat works with government agencies, NGOs, academia, and local communities. She has extensive experience in documentation, transparency systems, data management, and reporting, ensuring that safeguards information is accessible, accurate, and aligned with national reporting requirements.
Farhat holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from the National University of Sciences and Technology and has specialized training in safeguard information systems, gender and social safeguards, national forest inventory, and land monitoring. She has also completed international certifications in REDD+, climate change and cities, climate-health linkages, and climate adaptation and resilience.
